Shopping in stores

Advisors trained to help you choose products that meet your expectations.

Before paying us a visit, here are some things you should know in order to have the best experience possible.

In-store shopping

1. Check in-store product availability before paying us a visit

You can browse through the list of all products available in a specific store - and their inventory - using the "My store" tool. To do so, simply click on "Choose my store" in the navigation bar (top, left). Once you selected your store, click on the store icon in the navigation bar, then on the "Products from my store" button. Click here for more information on the "My store" tool.

You can also check stock availability on each product detail page.

Quantities displayed on the website could be different to the inventory available in stores. Verify availability before you leave home, and our store advisors will guide you to a replacement product if required.

2. No one under 21 is allowed

Under the act regulating cannabis, no one under the age of 21 is allowed in SQDC stores, even if accompanied by someone 21 or older. If you show up at an SQDC store with your child, he or she will not be allowed inside. Please note that there is no waiting area for people under 21 in SQDC stores.

3. Bring a valid ID with you

All customers must have a valid photo ID to enter any SQDC store. No virtual ID (e-wallet, photos) will be accepted.

4. Security guard at the door and in the store at all times

We aim to provide a safe and secure environment for our customers, employees and nearby businesses. To accomplish this, we rely on the presence of a security guard at the store entrance and in the reception area.

5. Cannabis products are not visible from outside our stores

As stipulated in the act, cannabis is a product reserved for persons aged 21 and over. As a result, we ensure that no one under 21 is allowed to enter our stores or to see the products in them.

6. Two different zones for customers

To make sure only people of legal age enter our stores, each store has a front section called the reception zone. After passing through it, you enter the advice and sales zone, where you can obtain information and purchase products.

We expect there will be busy periods in the stores, which may entail additional waiting time in the reception zone. While you wait, you can use interactive displays to obtain more information about our products. We also provide free Wi-Fi, which, among other things, allows you to view our SQDC.ca website on a mobile device.

7. All our cannabis sales advisors are certified

Each employee you meet in our stores is certified to provide cannabis advice. To be able to educate customers about cannabis and handle sales responsibly, all our employees are required to successfully complete an official training program developed in collaboration with the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux. Only after receiving a passing grade do trainees become SQDC certified cannabis advisors. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like: they will be happy to answer them.

8. Should you turn to our advisors? You decide!

Although we offer quality personalized advisory service, some customers prefer to shop on their own. Others simply want to check out the store. While our advisors are able to provide assistance if and when you require it, you are not required to ask for help in choosing your products. Extensive information is posted on the store walls and interactive displays are also available, making it easy for you to learn about our products without having to turn to our staff.

9. You can look without buying

The recent legalization of non-medical cannabis has piqued the curiosity of some. Even if you don’t plan to buy cannabis, you should feel free to visit our stores and obtain more information. Our advisors receive thorough training and will be pleased to answer any cannabis-related questions you may have.

10. Before buying, there’s some information you need to know

No samples are handed out, no tastings are held and no cannabis is consumed in our stores.

We do not sell products in bulk. All the cannabis we sell comes in prepackaged standard quantities and is labelled.

Our advisors are not authorized to use cannabis during their shift or to work while under the influence. Do not invite them to go outside the store with you to try a cannabis product because they will refuse. Our zero tolerance policy is very clear about this.

You are not allowed to handle unpurchased cannabis products in our stores. Even if that is standard procedure in most other stores. Once you have selected your products, you give your order to a checkout advisor. Only after the products have been paid for at the cash will they be handed to you.

The advice and sales zone of our stores is divided into three cannabis product sections: an Indica section, a Sativa section and a hybrid section. A list of the available products is posted on the wall in each section. You can refer to the list and ask an advisor to go get a product once you have made your selection.

Do you already know what product you want to buy? Go straight to the checkout and give the advisor your order. Your transaction will be finished fast.

11. We do not sell cannabis-related items other than the most basic accessories

Our primary mission is to sell cannabis. For convenience’s sake, we offer a few basic accessories for use (lighters, grinders and rolling papers) in our stores. However, you will not find more elaborate accessories for using cannabis (vaporizers, for example). To buy those types of product, you will need to visit a specialized boutique.

12. Other useful information

The amount of cannabis you can buy and possess is restricted by the act. Specifically, you cannot buy a total of more than 30 grams of dried cannabis – or the equivalent in oil or pills – per visit. Please don’t ask our advisors to make an exception for you; they are required to refuse any and all such requests.

The act also requires us not to sell cannabis to individuals who are obviously under the influence of alcohol or drugs or who are attempting to buy it for a someone under 21.

13. Order online and avoid lineups at the door

During very busy periods, customers may have to line up outside the store. You can avoid the queues by ordering online at SQDC.ca and having the products delivered directly to your home or elsewhere.

For the terms and conditions associated with our in-store Wi-Fi service, please see our policy details.

14. A network of stores throughout Quebec

To ensure a good geographic distribution of the SQDC store network, new points of sale will be added as needed to meet market demand. See the Find a store section for the complete list of store locations.
